You should always contact a Los Angeles Personal Injury Lawyer before you speak with the insurance companies. The following video transcript is for your convenience:
“There is one area I’d like to cover and it goes to the importance of contacting an attorney first. Because usually the insurance company will want to take a statement and if the injured party gives s statement and the improper questions are asked and they don’t have anyone to guide them through and be there with them when they are giving the statement, if they decide to allow and have the statement, they can give up damaging information or have something twisted to a form that really hurts them. I had another adjuster tell me at one time there was a car that was damaged and it was in a guy’s driveway. The adjuster knew that the car couldn't be moved and he knew that the person was claiming a personal injury. So he told the person, ‘alright I’ve got everything I can see, but its a little dark in here. Gee I could probably pick up something I might have missed if the car was in the sun light. And the person said ‘well it won’t run.’ And the adjuster said ‘well I’m sure I got most of it, don’t worry about it. ‘And the guy said ‘well I can put it in neutral and I can push it out into the drive way.’ The adjuster said ‘well, that’ll be great, and then I’d really be sure I give you a fair and accurate estimate. And the guy did that, and the adjuster in the meantime was writing down ‘claiming personal injury accident moved a car, three days after the accident was pushing a 2000 pound vehicle. And they used that to come down and say why his injuries weren’t so serious or why maybe his injuries were more serious because he injured it pushing the car. When it doesn’t take a lot of effort but it seems real bad. So it’s always better to get an attorney, in my opinion to handle the claim so that we can safe guard against those types of questions.” |
