Breech Delivery Birth Injury Lawyer

A breech delivery can cause serious injuries to both the baby and the mother.  The normal, head first position allows the infant to pass through the birthing canal easier and prevents serious injuries to the limbs.  When the baby is "breech", buttocks or feet first both the baby and mother can suffer serious injuries as the baby can become stuck in the birth canal, the umbilical cord can wrap around the neck of the infant causing oxygen deficiency, harm to shoulders, neck, face, and arms are not uncommon.  Our Los Angeles breech delivery injury lawyers have represented many families that have infants suffering from extreme trauma during birth.

The injury attorneys in our Los Angeles birth injury law firm understand that the birthing process is a traumatic ordeal on the infant and the mother.  However, when a baby suffers injuries that were preventable with proper monitoring, the damage to the family is overwhelming.

Breech Birth Injuries

The breech position of an infant is typically easy to diagnose with appropriate medical examinations and monitoring as the due date nears.  In most cases, as the due date approaches and your doctor visits increase the doctor and staff should be closely monitoring the position of the baby to make certain that the child is in the proper position.  If the baby is active and is in motion, the doctor should be even more diligent when labor does begin and be prepared to perform a caesarean section.  Your doctor is responsible to ensure that both you and the baby are healthy and able to undergo the birthing process.

If the baby is in the breech position at the time of the birth and the doctor fails to recognize this, serious, preventable injuries can be inflicted.  Once the position of the baby is recognized as a breech position, an immediate caesarean procedure should be performed to alleviate any further injury or trauma to the mother or baby.  If the doctor or medical staff fails to recognize the breech position or fails to timely perform the necessary caesarean section, serious injuries can be inflicted on the infant, including permanent brain damage

Our Los Angeles breech delivery injury lawyers are here to help you if your newborn suffered preventable injuries due to the negligence of the medical staff to properly diagnose a breech position, or perform the necessary procedures to prevent further injuries.  Contact our Los Angeles birth injury law firm today for a no cost case evaluation.
