CHP Mourns Wrongful Death of Officer After Los Angeles Car Accident

Reports went out today about the wrongful death of the CHP officer who was struck by an Infiniti on the 405 freeway a few weeks ago. The veteran officer was 48 years old and died from serious injuries he sustained after being struck by a car on the shoulder of the freeway. Mr. Ortiz served worked for the CHP for over 28 years and will be greatly missed by the force and his grieving family.
The Los Angeles car accident that resulted in his death happened after a routine traffic stop on the morning of June 9, 2010. The officer was just about to get back on his motorcycle when a speeding Infiniti vehicle crashed into him from behind, forcing him and his bike into the Honda SUV he had just pulled over. He most likely suffered internal organ damage from the impact of being crushed between the two vehicles. After he was extracted from the wreckage he was rushed to a local hospital where he later died of his injuries.
