Los Angeles County Hospital Reports Radiation Overdoses
Posted By Los Angeles Accident Attorney on Nov 21, 2009 11:00am PST
Earlier this week, a Los Angeles County hospital reported that ten patients received an overdose of radiation from CT scans that were used to diagnose strokes. Glendale Adventist Medical Center found that they were giving patients three or four times more radiation than needed after their scanners were reprogrammed. The patients have been informed and their risks seem to be minimal as of now. This situation is still under investigation as it is unclear as to whether the hospital or the reprogrammers of the scanners should be held responsible.
The above case is similar to other Los Angeles medical malpractice situations where patients are mistreated and suffer the consequences. Medical malpractice lends itself to many possible injuries and illnesses such as a patient’s current illness worsening, or overdoses of different treatments and drugs can lead to death. Hospitals are meant to help patients and should be held responsible when they act negligently with a patient’s treatment.
