| Elder Abuse Leads to Fatality |
| In Los Angeles there has been an increase in reports related to elder abuse. Nursing home negligence is at an all time high in the media and more elderly deaths are reported each week in connection with abuse and reckless care. Whether it is related to premises liability like a slip and fall accident or careless actions by nursing home staff, elder abuse is a leading cause in the deaths of so many older men and women.
A recent case was reported about a 67 year old woman who bled to death while under the care of hospital staff. She was undergoing dialysis treatment and left unattended by the nurses. The staff failed to monitor this woman as she received treatment and it led to her death. Reports given about this case said that blood collected around her shunt and by the time that the nurses caught the malfunction the woman was on her last breath. It was also found out that the reckless nurses had previously had their licenses revoked as the result of substance abuse.
In elder abuse and nursing home negligent cases such as this one families face great sorrow and suffer many emotional damages. The rights of the family and the deceased deserve to be protected. Contacting an experience lawyer is the first step to compensation recovery.
