Rail Road Safety Tour for Los Angeles School Districts
Posted By Personal Injury Lawyers on Dec 3, 2009 10:30pm PST
A safety tour was launched today by The California Department of Transportation / Amtrak. It is the first of tours promoting rail road safety to the general public. This tour is targeting teens given the statistics showing how risky teens can be near and around rail road tracks. The presentation displayed a motor vehicle which was crushed by a train in an accident as the driver was attempting to "beat the train" in a race. The program is called "Respect the Rails" and it hope to encourage driving safety to the teen population of the greater Los Angeles areas.
Studies into teen driving habits have shown that adolescents take many risks while driving and crossing streets or rail road tracks. These statistics are reflected in the many wrongful death cases filed each year in the city of Los Angeles. These claims are usually filed by families whose son or daughter were killed in a car accident caused by a risky teen driver and classmate. Among the statistics reported were a list of the types of distractions available to students while driving, or walking near train tracks. These distractions include MP3 players, cell phones, and digital hand held games systems.
It is dangerous for any driver to attempt to cross train tracks in their car. Many fatal car accidents have been caused by the careless act of a driver attempting to pull a stunt while "defeating" an on coming train. People are usually killed or suffer very serious injuries in train accidents and car crashes of this nature.
If your teenager has been injured or killed in an accident involving a train or a car and negligence on the part of the driver you will need legal assistance. Please contact one of out Los Angeles train accident lawyers today for a free consultation.
