Several lawsuits were filed against Metrolink after the 2005 derailment of one of their trains. The crash was caused by a man who was attempting commit suicide by parking his jeep on the train tracks. Eleven people were killed in the accidents and 180 people suffered serious injuries. Reports show that over 185 injury and wrongful death suits were filed against Metrolink after the accident and nearly all of them have been settled. Metrolink has agreed to pay $39 million dollars as settlement for the many personal injury claims made against them.
